Network Blocking and Page Element Filtering

Network filtering blocks matching requests before or while a resource loads. Cosmetic filtering hides elements already present in the page document. They are related but not interchangeable.

What an element picker does

An element picker lets a user choose a visible page component and save a site-specific rule to hide it. This can remove a newsletter banner or a repeated overlay even when it is not a separate network request.

Limits and safety

Hiding an element does not remove the script or network request that created it, and a site redesign may invalidate the selector. Use the Element Picker guide and review rules before saving them.
