VPN IP Location and GPS Are Not the Same

A VPN changes the network path used by supported traffic. It does not automatically move a device's GPS receiver, change nearby Wi-Fi observations or rewrite every location sensor.

IP-based location

Websites often estimate location from the public IP address. That estimate can point to the VPN exit region rather than the physical device location, but IP geolocation is approximate and databases can be outdated.

Browser geolocation

When a page requests geolocation, the browser may use GPS, Wi-Fi or other system signals after asking for permission. This is separate from the network IP. A VPN alone does not spoof those coordinates.

Test safely

The DI VPN Location Guard page first checks permission state without requesting coordinates. You can deliberately press its location test button to trigger the browser prompt; the page records only whether the request succeeded or failed, not the coordinates.
