Split Tunneling: What Goes Through the VPN?
Split tunneling allows selected destinations to use the VPN while other destinations use the regular network, or vice versa. It is useful for local services and compatibility, but every bypass rule is a deliberate privacy exception.
Include and exclude modes
In an exclude mode, listed destinations bypass the VPN. In an include mode, only listed destinations are sent through it. The exact behaviour depends on the platform and the client's proxy or routing implementation.
Review saved domains
Open the extension's routing settings and review every domain. Remove entries you no longer recognise. The DI VPN Split Tunneling check reads the selected mode and count of saved rules; it does not change your routes or make requests to those domains.
Understand the trade-off
A domain excluded from the VPN may see your regular public IP. Do not exclude banking, identity, work or other sensitive services unless you understand the route and its consequences.
