IPv6 Leaks and VPN Routing: What to Check
Many internet connections support IPv4 and IPv6 at the same time. A VPN client can successfully change the IPv4 address seen by a website while an IPv6 route remains available through another interface. That is why IP checks should consider both families.
What an IPv6-only endpoint tells you
An IPv6-only service can tell whether the browser can reach it over IPv6 and what source address the service sees. If an address is returned, compare it with the intended VPN routing design. An address different from the VPN's IPv4 exit merits investigation, but a difference alone is not a definitive leak verdict.
Why an unavailable result is inconclusive
The browser may have no IPv6 connectivity, the network may filter IPv6, the endpoint may be blocked, or the VPN may intentionally disable that route. A failed request does not prove every device application is protected.
Run the DI VPN test
Connect in Chrome and open the DI VPN IPv6 Leak Test. It compares the ordinary request address with an IPv6-only probe and states the limitations in the result.
